Time to Run: Get Motivated Active.com

In preparation of my upcoming Couch to 5k training program, I thought this article was helpful. It’s easy for me to lose motivation so I’ll try to keep these things in mind.

The Country Music Marathon and 1/2 marathon was held today in Nashville. I had friends that participated in this and I watched some of the coverage on t.v. It was very motivating to watch and I almost wished I had the courage to do this! I’m feeling positive about this C25K challenge and hoping my next 5k will include more running than walking.

Buenos dias

It’s Saturday morning and I am up early making breakfast for my family and espresso for myself. I love making an iced espresso with Silk light. It is very yummy!

The last few weekends, my kitchen has been closed so I decided to make a nice breakfast. Not literally closed, but I just haven’t chosen to cook. It is supposed to rain/storm most of the day so I think we will stay home. I’m trying to gear up for a workout. I haven’t been on the treadmill in a while, so I think I’ll give it a try. With all this exercise equipment, I have no excuse.

I have some things weighing on my mind today. Last night my oldest daughter called me with some shocking news. I should have known it was big when she asked if I were sitting down. 🙂 She informed me that she is pregnant. She is unmarried, 20 years old and just moved into her first apartment. She has a part time job and makes just barely enough to take care of her living expenses. So I am a little worried. I am also a little stressed out thinking about being a grandma! I’m too young for that, right? Here are some baby pictures of my babies….

John and I are a little unsure about this grandparent thing…maybe the way we look in this picture says it all!

Have a great weekend!

What are you eating today?

I didn’t have time to eat lunch today. But I had a good breakfast of oatmeal with blueberries. And an organic granola bar for a snack. I also had an orange and some apple slices. Fresh fruit is good! Now it’s after 4:00 and I’m hungry. So I made a frozen pizza – spinach and mushroom. Its pretty good for one of those low calorie meals. I have also increased my water consumption today. I feel so much better when I eat healthier!

I also had a cup of yogurt today and one square of my dark chocolate! If someone told me I couldn’t have chocolate, I don’t think I could make it. 🙂 But remember …moderation!

Next On The Biggest Loser

Next On The Biggest Loser

I’m looking forward to watching The Biggest Loser tonight! Only four contestants are left and tonight we will find out who will go on to the finale! I’m rooting for Ada! This show is such a huge motivator for me. I see people come on the show that lose hundreds of pounds, it makes me feel like I can do it too! I will have my kleenex box ready, I’m sure it will be an emotional episode.

Running obsessed?

I am debating whether I should sign up for the Frosty Fun Run that takes place on December 11th. Its for a good cause – supporting 2 child advocacy groups. I’m still not where I need to be for running, but I’m continuing on my training and improving. My family will probably say I’m too obsessed about these events. But in my defense, I like pushing myself to see how far I can go. My next goal is to be able to increase my running so that I’m running more than walking and eventually running a 5k. I believe I have participated in 6 walk/run events this year so far.  This sounds like a fun event, as long as the weather cooperates. No chip timing – it’s just for fun. A 4-mile run on the cart path of a local golf course. Today is the last day to sign up online, so I will think about this today and make a decision soon.
