Buenos dias

It’s Saturday morning and I am up early making breakfast for my family and espresso for myself. I love making an iced espresso with Silk light. It is very yummy!

The last few weekends, my kitchen has been closed so I decided to make a nice breakfast. Not literally closed, but I just haven’t chosen to cook. It is supposed to rain/storm most of the day so I think we will stay home. I’m trying to gear up for a workout. I haven’t been on the treadmill in a while, so I think I’ll give it a try. With all this exercise equipment, I have no excuse.

I have some things weighing on my mind today. Last night my oldest daughter called me with some shocking news. I should have known it was big when she asked if I were sitting down. 🙂 She informed me that she is pregnant. She is unmarried, 20 years old and just moved into her first apartment. She has a part time job and makes just barely enough to take care of her living expenses. So I am a little worried. I am also a little stressed out thinking about being a grandma! I’m too young for that, right? Here are some baby pictures of my babies….

John and I are a little unsure about this grandparent thing…maybe the way we look in this picture says it all!

Have a great weekend!

espresso time!

I found this is my favorite way to start the day…I am improving on my barista skills. My newest thing is making an iced mocha with the espresso. Very yummy.

blueberry muffins!

It doesn’t seem like it should be Monday already. I guess that is because I worked most of the weekend. I’m thankful to have a job, so I’m not complaining.

As you probably know, I am a wine drinker. Do you have one of these handy tools? John is demonstrating. This is a wonderful thing! And we bought it at a liquidation store for $5.00. Awesome deal.

I love tools that make my life easier. Do you have any neat tools that you use often?

What are you doing to make your life better today? Have a Happy Monday!

Snowy Saturday

Good morning! I woke up to it snowing! What a beautiful sight!

Plans for today include working out, cleaning the house a bit, and spending time with family while watching football. After having my morning espresso, of course. I have finally figured out how to use my machine!

Here are some pictures of my workout room that is still a work in progress.

My newest workout DVD purchase

We had a nice relaxing evening last night after I got off work. It had been a stressful work week, and I needed that! After sipping on a glass of wine, we played Green Day Rockband! I love it! I know their songs so well, that I could get 100% on the hard level.

We also got take out for dinner. Since I had been sticking to my healthy eating all week, I decided that I wanted Popeyes fried chicken. That has to be my favorite meal! Even more reason to get up and burn some calories today!

Happy New Year! 2011 is here. Did you make your resolutions? I made mine a few days ago in the post labeled Goals for 2011.

On New Year’s Eve, I decided to try a test run with my espresso machine. Success! I was able to produce a serving of espresso. I will need to purchase a frothing pitcher as one did not come with the machine. And I need some espresso cups. My extra large coffee cups are too large.

Later today, I treated my mom to lunch and a movie. We went to Mimi’s Cafe for lunch. I actually had breakfast consisting of pumpkin pancakes with cinnamon apples and scrambled eggs. I also treated myself to a Pimosa – a drink similar to a Mimosa but with a combination of different types of juices.

Pumpkin pancakes!

I ordered coffee after lunch

We had a lovely time at Mimi’s as always. After lunch we went to see “The Tourist” at the movies. We enjoyed Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie’s performance. I joked with my sister that I was working on getting the “daughter of the year award” by taking mom out for a fun filled day! She has some catching up to do!

Double skinny latte please…

This morning I have been trying to learn how to use my espresso machine I got for Christmas. The instructions that came with it have pictures with no words, but after reading further, I found written instructions too. I’m sure I will love it when I get it figured out! Thanks, honey. It’s a wonderful gift.

I’m loving having the day off. In fact, I’m off work until Jan 4th! I’m spending time with family today. My mom is coming over later to watch the Music City Bowl with me. Go Vols!

My mom just found out that she has Type 2 Diabetes, so I am planning on making some snacks that she can have without raising her blood sugar. I’m off to research diabetic recipes! If you have recommendations, please comment!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!

It’s a white Christmas in Tennessee. Kind of. Actually it looks like just a dusting of snow. But its the first white Christmas since 1993, so that is kind of cool. Here is a picture taken from my front door.

I got up and made my traditional cinnamon rolls and coffee before opening our gifts.

I got some new coffee mugs from my mom last night. They are really nice! They are glass mugs tinted blue.

Here are a few gifts I received:

My daughter, Jan’a got me these wine glasses but informed me if I didn’t like them, she would take them back. Sorry! I love them!

My sister gave me these candleholders. Love them!

John gave me an espresso maker! Nice! Now I just have to learn how to use it.

PS3 game for me!

Another PS3 game and the PS3 Move! Alright!

Here is a great gift I got from my sister in law.

Timex training watch. I love it! Its so much more feminine than my current training watch.

Here is the note my sister in law included with my gift. She says I inspire her! What a sweet thing to say!

Now the family is having fun playing their video games while I “play” on the computer. We are planning on being lazy today and play with our toys and maybe go have chinese food later today….(remember the ending of the movie The Christmas Story…)

Here is a gift my husband seems pretty proud of…

Here is the best Christmas present of all….

I hope you have a Merry Christmas!
